Today I picked cherries...in Keremeos (that's almost to Penticton!). I thought it would be something like slave labour, but it seemed that a lot of my relatives's kids went as well. It was like a company outing because my mom and her co-workers set this up. The ride was said to be 2 hours long, but it actually took 6 hours to get there. It was CRAZY! If my cousin, Mike wasn't there, I would have gone insane. I didn't apprectiate the ride, but I liked the company. When wE finally arrived at Keremeos, I was stunned to see that the city centre had only one street. Everything you would want is on there: Sears, IGA, CIBC, a laundromat, etc. Everything else was orchard country. We finally got to picking cherries, but I quit in 2 minutes. It wasn't fun at all. The cherries were small, worms were crawling all over the place and the Orchard growers ripped us off. To top it all off, our truck was ditched by the rest of the convoy. On the way back, the kids from the other cars were complaining and pouting (they've been doing that all day). They wanted to eat before leaving, but we had enough of them and decided to head home ourselves. It was the best decision we ever made because, half way back, a fog came over us. It limited vision to a few metres on a 90 km/h highway. We got past it safely, but we wouldn't want to be the fools who left late and has to past through ALL the fog. ;) I'm glad I came to experience it, but I'll never go again.

The wait for the new X-Men movie is finally over! We watched it today. Before that, at ~3:30pm, the SFU Crew, Huanger and I ate at the usual place, The Bass. I can never get tired of that place; there are just too many good memories at that place. This time was no exception. Leung harassed everyone before we ate, making a costly mistake. During the meal we everyone retailiated on Leung. We made fun of him about Karen and refused to scoop food for him. By the end of the 1½ hour dinner, we manage to defeat Leung! :) After the meal, we lined up for the movie. It was boring! We played Big 2, but I always seemed to lose. :( Then came the movie. The story and graphics were okay, but I thought Patrick Stewart should have played Magneto. Overall it was a fun day. To top it off, Willie and Mandy bought a small ice cream as a birthday cake! Thanks Willie and Mandy!!!

Today Kev, Carol, Leung, Dorothy and I watched Gone in 60 Seconds. It was one of those car movies. It wasn't my type of movie, but it was okay. On the way to Metro Leung harassed me about Peggy, someone I only met for 3 min at the BBQ. We played air hockey before the movie. Dorothy schooled, me! I'm ashamed to say it, but I lost to a little girl while I was trying! I did, however, develop a special move that rivals Leung's Super Swipe. I involves, diving at the puck when it's near the middle of the table, where no one is supposed to reach. I plan to use it in the near future. As I said earlier, the movie was okay. If Nicolas Cage wasn't in it, it wouldn't be good enough to be a movie. At the end, I made a daring escape to avoid going to Carol's house. I pulled the move at Nanaimo Station where I allowed the others to go before me and pretended to follow. Then I stayed on the Skytrain and went home. By the time everyone (except Leung) realized this, I was home free. ;) Note: France won the Euro 2000 becoming the first team to win both the Euro and World Cup in the same year.

BBQ Day is finally here! The day has come after many days of planning and preparation. It was a LONG day! I woke up at 6 am to get to my cousin's house for the tongs. I ended up standing at the bus stop in the cold for half an hour to discover that the Skytrain had closed that day. Next, the new show, Card Captors, turned out to be a re-run even though it's only in the 2nd week of the season. I got cheered up though as I harassed Willie to the bus stop and Leung while on the bus. Dave and Huanger came with us. When we got to Mandy's we held the game championships. Willie won in Street Fighter EX and Leung won in Chocobo Racing. That day we played video games, cards and cooked crappy food. Leung was worn out playing NHL 2000 and I learned to hate "Group Big 2". Five of Mandy's friends joined us. We cooked crappy food for them while they cooked edible food for us. I didn't mind. :) There were many things done that day to explain in detail and we had lots of fun. I was worth going to Coquitlam for. We went home at 11:30 pm. Mandy drove us home. Thanks Mandy!

Portugal lost! :( They were defeated by France by a penalty shot in extra time. Sigh... They weren't playing the way they were during the round robin. They sucked today. The only thing I can look forward to is the defeat of France.

Has anyone watched Euro 2000 lately? That's what I have been doing the past week. At first I wasn't interested in soccer, but I soon got hooked and watched it everyday. I suggest watching it. The next game is Wednesday at noon. It's Portugal vs. France Wednesday on TSN. I'm rooting for Portugal all the way! :)

The past weekend was the Alcan Dragonboat Festival. It was HOT, but fun! Leung, Dorothy and I attended it to cheer Kev and Carol on for their races. They didn't win, but...it didn't matter. There were a lot of things to do and get. Everyone got something by the end of the weekend. Here's what each person won:

Carol Dorothy Kev Leung Me
  • 1 Cathay Pacific balloon
  • 1 camera case
  • 1 aluminum butterfly (from aluminum wheel)
  • 1 frisbee

  • 1 OneAsia.com photo - Grand Prize
  • 2 Cathay Pacific balloon
  • 1 aluminum butterfly (from aluminum wheel)
  • 1 beach ball
  • 2 frisbee
  • 1 Cathay Pacific balloon
  • 1 frisbee
  • 1 aluminum sailboat (from aluminum wheel)
  • 3 beach ball
  • 3 frisbee
  • 1 Motorola key chain
  • 1 100m Alcan aluminum foil - Grand Prize
  • 1 Cathay Pacific balloon
  • 2 frisbee
  • 1 Motorola key chain

Everyone also got pens and pins of some sort. One of the craziest things we did was trying to win the Cathay plane balloon. To win, we had to fold paper airplanes and throw them in a boxed area. Dorothy, Leung and I tried 8 times each. Unfortunately for Leung, he got snubbed. He made a perfect shot, but no one gave him a balloon. :( Leung got Secret antiperspirant from spinning the Proctor & Gamble wheel. The lady looked at him weird then gave him a frisbee. ;) Another interesting thing happened that weekend. There was a Pepsi Challenge. A lot of people chose Coke. Why? Couldn't people tell the difference? I saw a guy who claim to drink Pepsi, but chose Coke instead. Anyhow, it was fun and I'll be back next year. ;)
